| Wheathampstead Playgroup is a community-based preschool providing early years education for the children of the village. We aim to provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment where learning is achieved through play. This enables the children to follow a curriculum structured around the Government's Early Years Foundation Stage ("EYFS"). The Playgroup is open to all children in the community and we welcome children with special needs (see Admissions Policy). A healthy eating policy is followed at Playgroup. Established in 1980, Wheathampstead Playgroup is registered with Ofsted, is a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, has received accreditation with Herts Quality Standards (HQS) and is currently working towards the 2012 Herts Quality Standards Award. The Playgroup is a registered charity (reg. charity no. 1118728) and it is incorporated as a company, Wheathampstead Playgroup Limited (no. 5958735). It is run by Trustees and volunteering parents known as 'Friends of Playgroup'. In January 2011, Wheathampstead Playgroup moved from a church hall to new, purpose-built premises on Nurseries Road.
