Parents as Partners

Wheathampstead Playgroup aims to work with parents as partners in providing quality care for their children.  We consider parents to be pro-active in our learning programme, and welcome their involvement.

Friends of Playgroup

As a parent of a child at Playgroup, you are a member of the  “Friends of Playgroup” . This is an informal fundraising group who organise and run fundraising events for Playgroup. As a charity, Playgroup rlies on fundraising in order to be able to run.

The money raised at these events pays for resources such as play equipment, art materials, snacks and books as well as larger projects such as the creation of the Playgroup garden.

All parents are welcome to help at any time with specific events or tasks including gardening, helping out at the trikeathon, Village Day, mini-market and cake sales and generally having fun while supporting Playgroup!

Family involvement

We actively encourage parents (grandparents, guardians etc!) to join in with the sessions at Playgroup.  You can come in to read a story, do an activity, share a talent or knowledge with the children, for example.

As a parent it is an opportunity for you to see your child in our setting. In attending a session, you can spend the time with the children, getting involved in their learning through play. You may also be able to spend time with your child's key worker.
